Product: Classy Connector
Description: How to Include or Exclude Classy Custom Questions
Environment: All
Version: All

Answer:

In Classy, there are two general types of Classy Questions - Optional (Classy Defined) and Custom (User Defined).  The optional questions are easily toggled on/off and are generally consistent across all campaigns of the same type, and depending on who should answer the question (Donors, Teams, etc.).  The User Defined questions are unique to campaigns, and you define both the question and acceptable responses. Knowing the difference between the two will be helpful when deciding which to include in your imports.

By default, all Optional (Classy Defined) Questions will be included on multi-campaign imports. If you don't want these questions included, you can check this selection to exclude them. Please note that changes to these selections will impact your profile mapping, and therefore require a profile refresh:

By default, Custom (User Defined) Questions will not be included on imports. If you want these questions included, you can check this selection to add them to your import. Again, Please note that changes to these selections will impact your profile mapping, and therefore require a profile refresh:

Important Note: Custom (User Defined) Questions must match across all campaigns selected, in order to be included. This is because ImportOmatic needs a consistent field map across all rows in the import. You now have the ability to include campaigns with no Custom Questions alongside campaigns that have an identical set of Custom Questions. Don't worry if you're unsure; a helpful message will pop up to let you know which campaigns can be included and which have differing questions.  To learn more, check out the Fundraisers, Recurring Donations, and Transactions pages of our user guide.
